This paper begins with a short reference to the 1947 reform, namely concerning the exams. Next, considering the relevance of the periodic press as a source for the educational history studies, we present the opinion spread in the press concerning the exams, particularly, of the 3rd cycle of the lyceum mathematics exams, in the period between 1947 and 1974. Lastly, based on recent press news, we present a comparative reflection between past and present on this issue. The aim is to support that the current press published controversies about the exams, also existed and were spread by the press in the past, even under a dictatorial government.
