Reorganização Curricular da Geometria: uma experiência no 6.º ano de escolaridade

This paper describes an investigation that took place in 2007, in a 6th-grade class of a public school. In the investigation there was a reorganization of part of the mathematical curriculum, more precisely of a thematic unit – Geometry, adopting a Project Based Learning methodology as the mathematical experience that triggers learning. The purpose of this study is to examine in which way this approach influences the students in: their conceptual and procedural knowledge; their ability in mathematical communication and in their thinking processes.
