O professor de Matemática: Um balanço de dez anos de investigação

This article outlines Portuguese research carried out about teachers’ conceptions, knowledge, practices and teacher education. The studies identified are organized by periods and themes; the first set of studies corresponds to the masters’ degrees awarded in the Boston program; the second group of studies focuses in a first moment on the conceptions and then in the conceptions and practices of teachers; a third group is developed around the new didactical
orientations, with emphasis in new information technologies; fourthly, it is considered the actual period, in which stands the interest by professional knowledge and professional development. The essential contributions of each period and trend are pointed out, discussing their ambiguities and limitations. Finally, it points to several lines of future development, both in terms of problématiques as of methodological approaches.
