This paper studies the influence that teacher education in new information and communication technologies may have in teachers’ professional conceptions and practices. It uses a case study methodology. The participants are two secondary school mathematics teachers that attended a course in the use of graphics calculators and two teachers that attended a course in Cabri-Géomètre. The teachers enjoyed the style of the course, based in practical work. The analysis of their professional stories shows that the course on graphics calculators had a more visible impact in practice, a technology that is easer to use in professional practice. It also suggests that the effect of this kind of courses in teachers’ conceptions and practices may be stronger if it includes a dimension of experimentation and reflection about practice and if does not ignore the organization aspects involved by their use in schools.
