Conceitos da FILOSOFIA de Wittgenstein e Programa Etnomatemático

Abstract

This paper discusses the possibility of some Wittgenstein’s concepts philosophically clarify Ethnomathematics, as suggested by Barton in The philosophical background to D’Ambrosio conception of ethnomathematics. I present concepts such as language games, family resemblances and Wittgenstein’s conception of mathematics as norm, and put them to argue with Ethnomathematics researches. I consider both theoretical discussions on this research program of Mathematics Education, and also anthropological researches that describe how mathematics are spread and used in specific practices. A philosophy capable of clarifying Ethnomathematics must have conditions of explaining culturally different mathematics, says Barton. At last I assess that Wittgenstein’s analytical frame is useful for this proposal but in itself can not approach the political meaning of Ethnomathematics.
