This article seeks to understand what difficulties are students of a class of 10th year of schooling, and how to evolve, in activity developed in exploration and investigation tasks in geometry. We opted for a qualitative methodology based on the descriptive and interpretative paradigm, following the case study mode. The participants were two groups of students in a 10th grade class (on average 15 years old). The data was collected through participant observation, documentary analysis and group interviews. The results of the experiment suggest that students reveal difficulties in understanding some processes inherent in the investigative activity. The continuous accomplishment of this kind of activity contributed for to a better understanding of these processes and the formulation of questions that the students give less importance.
