In this article we present some of the main results of a research work which main aim was both describing and understanding the main strategies of generalization in the exploitation of the students patterns of a seventh grade class. For that, the study of qualitative nature, focused in a teaching intervention and the data were obtained through the observation of the students work, as well as their written productions. In terms of results, among the different strategies adopted by students, it was really noted, the prevalence of the Explicit strategy, followed by the strategies Difference and Count, respectively.
